A Dear John letter is a letter written to a man by his wife or romantic partner to inform him their relationship is over because she has found another lover. The man is often a soldier stationed overseas, although the letter may be used in other ways, including being left for him to discover when he returns from work to an emptied house. Dear Michael, I wish I were writing you for other reasons, but I just can’t continue our relationship feeling the way I feel right now. I’m writing this letter instead of talking face-to-face because I have much to tell you and this seems like the best way to express it.

Dear Bro, I’ve never written you a letter before so this is weird. I’m usually not so far away from you either. It’s different. I’m so used to yelling at you for eating all my food and for being a brat.

It’s weird to think that you’re not here with me. We’ve never been this far away for this long. To my Brother: Words are hard to describe feelings, I have always been better with images.

Yet writing down how much I miss you, Seems to give me more tranquility. Writing to let go, to give this all a place. It will never heal, it will never go away, But just learning to give it time and space/5.
